A
Warm Welcome to our Website.
We
thought we would put a little bit in about ourselves, & to let
you share some of our 'Dream.'
We
decided a few years ago, due to some very recent, dear, losses of
some close friends, that time went past too quick, & here we
were, in our mid-forties, spending all our time, armpit deep, in
our works for corporate companies. We wanted something more
a challenge & a lifestyle that suited us both.
One, which encompassed our compassion for meeting people & yet,
gave us time to follow our hearts pursuits. (John is an Amateur
Artist, he specialises in Wood Carvings. Lin is a Green fingered
Pixie!!& is addicted to Gardening.)
We had holidayed in France many times & loved it. So we decided
on a Dream plan, to sell up, lock stock & barrel & move
over, cats in tow.
Luck
& Fortune were on our side when we found our house in Le Langon.
It was once the Village Doctor's house, going back two generations.
Built in 1800's with large gardens & old stables dating back
1700's. We fell in love with it on stepping through the threshold.
We hope when you come to stay here, that you too, experience the
restfulness, which the house & village seem to possess. (Other
Guests who have stayed, have commented that they don't clock watch,
& it's the most relaxed they have been in ages!)
After
a very smooth buying process, we were it's proud owner's on 30/03/04.
We moved in a month later.
We have been busy with painting & decorating, installing en-suites to
the bedrooms, generally, bringing it up to date, yet still keeping
the old French Charm. We have created a cosy Guests’ sitting room,
where you can just sit & read or play games with the family..There is
still plenty of work to do to the Garden & Outbuildings. We have just
converted our old stables into a lovely, spacious & bright family & disabled
friendly self-catering Gite, for that really special French vacation. The
Garden has now the addition of a Swimming Pool, which was completed
early 2005, somewhere wonderful to cool off in the summer heat We still have
a lot to do, but we have to remember that Rome wasn't built in a day!!!!
We
hope this has given you a little insight into our 'Dream', and look
forward to meeting you, one day soon, when you too, can share a
little of the magic at La Jolie Maison.
A Bientot
John
