Bird watching in the Vendée

One of my passions has been bird watching, ever since I was young I have been bewitched by these beautiful creatures, so it was a magical surprise for me to find that the area we had moved to, here in the Vendée, had a plethora of Bird life. You just walk/cycle/drive along the roadsides and they are all around, from the amazing and exotic, like the incredible Hoopoe, a visitor from Africa, to the beautiful house martins, finches, to name just a few and not forgetting the majestic birds of prey.

Because the Vendée and adjoining departments are mostly made up of Marshland, it attracts all species, small and large, stopping off from their migration route to either mate and make their nests here or on their way to other places, the area is perfect for them.
